Heather Myers is from Altoona, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the Pennsylvania State University – Altoona in 2016 with a degree in English and a minor in Women’s Studies. She received her MFA in Poetry and a Women’s Studies Certificate from West Virginia University in spring 2019. As of Fall 2019, she will be pursuing a PhD in Poetry at the University of North Texas. She currently focuses on writing about identity and loss, exploring her relationship to her twin brother who survived a traumatic brain injury but was left without speech or the ability to walk for the remainder of his life, until he passed at nearly 10. Feminist and Queer theory is a primary interest, as well as how poetry is a tool for survival.
She likes traveling, and in true Cancer fashion, basing her visits around bakeries and restaurants; teahouses, animals, guidebooks, lists, graphic design, photography, botanical gardens, the ocean, and trying out hobbies and then moving on to another.
